We open the second season of our tea club with a chapter focusing on the world of Shu Pu'er tea. With this fermented tea, world-known for its unmistakable aroma, we take a journey that will take us to better know singular terroirs of Yunnan and to discover different taste variations of modern Shupu, that differs deeply from the older version and is becoming a completely distinct tea.

This chapter will lead us to understand the cultural value of four iconic areas: Jingmai mountain with its World Heritage ancient trees tea forest, Menghai with its unparallel expertise in crafting fermented Pu'er tea, Xigui with its local minorities living and creating tea like time never passed and Bulang mountain the inestimable land of strong tea taste.

In this first chapter we'll also open our senses to a wider experience of taste and fragrances, discovering how tea interacts with different elements, like herbs and incense that are part of the Chinese way of living the tea culture. Shupu tea, with its soft and mellow taste and mouthfeel will be our protagonist, the main character of a new tale in which precious ingredients combine to create a story of fragrances.

From the four mentioned terroirs we selected 8 teas, five of which we'll taste in their pure flavour profile:

  • Bulang Shupu 2024
  • Xigui Shupu, 2023
  • Jingmai Shupu 2022, Ancient Trees
  • Jingmai Shupu 2018, Forest Trees
  • Menghai aged Shupu 1990's

And other three paired with precious materials:

  • Shupu 2024 (Bulang) with Agarwood, the most precious natural essence
  • Shupu 2024 (Bulang), herbal blend with mulberry, goji berry and longan
  • Yiwu ancient trees shupu 2023 Qinggan, inside tangerine

Together with these 8 Pu'er Shu samples, you'll receive also three sticks of our natural incense - Cascade 瀑布 - that we suggest to light up during your brewing to experience a new feeling of Shupu, where its fragrance meet the essence of the incense's precious ingredients.

As you receive your tea samples, you will find a welcome letter with links to extensive content on the ancient and modern history of the area, geography and culture. You will then have access to a reserved Community chat area where we continue to upload new contents, and you can share your own tasting notes, observations, and travel stories.

You will also have access to the live online webinar (the recording will also be available in the community) and the informative material, in which we will explore each mountain, share with the participants the direct experiences of our trips on site and talk deeper about blending and incense pairing. We invite you to start tasting the samples as soon as you receive them, but we suggest to keep few grams to taste again and comment together during the online meeting.

Each chapter of our tea club will be available on our shop until stocks last.
